M&D’s Courtney Willis elected to Texas Pharmacy Association Board

Courtney Willis (PhTR, CPhT), Retail Territory Manager for Morris & Dickson, was elected this week as Technician Director for the Texas Pharmacy Association’s (TPA) 2022 – 2024 Board of Directors.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be on the Board of Directors before representing industry distribution and healthcare resources,” says Courtney Willis. “And now in this Technician role, I think it’s another great opportunity for me to give back to the profession that’s given so much to me.”

The appointment followed voting by TPA members from July 18 to August 1, 2022. The Board is composed of 13 voting members and five non-voting members. Voting members are the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Immediate Past President, Treasurer, Speaker of the House, six Pharmacist Directors, and one Pharmacy Technician Director. Non-voting members are the CEO of the Association who serves as Secretary of the Board, Treasurer-Elect, Speaker-Elect of the House, Chair of the Independent Pharmacy Academy, and Chair of the Academy of Student Pharmacists.

Board members act with full authority and responsibility to develop the strategic direction, policies, and procedures, monitor financial health, participate in budget planning, and support the vision, mission, and values of the Association.

“One of the things I truly hope to accomplish is to educate our technicians that TPA is the pharmacy association, it isn’t the pharmacist association,” said Willis. “TPA truly is an organization that is there to represent all of pharmacy.”

The Texas Pharmacy Association was founded in 1879 and has been the leading advocate for all pharmacists and the pharmacy profession in Texas ever since. It serves members practicing in all areas of pharmacy, including community, hospitals, long-term-care facilities, education, manufacturing, and distribution. TPA is an effective and strong voice for all Texas pharmacy professionals in advocacy, continuing education, and practice innovation by empowering today’s pharmacists to be effective healthcare advisors.

Willis resides in East Texas and is a certified pharmacy technician registered with the State of Texas since 2004 and has been in pharmacy for 23 years. She has been a retail territory manager for M&D for the last seven years. Prior to joining Morris & Dickson, Willis ran her own independent pharmacy consulting business and previously worked for PBA Health, AmerisourceBergen, and Walmart Pharmacy.

Morris & Dickson is the largest independent full-line pharmaceutical distributor in the country. With over 30,000 SKUs, M&D’s singular focus is the reliable, next-day delivery of drugs and related products to health systems, independent pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, and alternative care facilities across 19 states (and counting).
