“Why Morris & Dickson is our Wholesaler:
We’ve been in business for over 40 years, and for virtually all of that time Morris and Dickson has been our primary wholesaler and technology-support provider. With larger than average stores and a busy prescription and over-the-counter business, we’ve been solicited by and have had substantial conversations with all of the major national wholesalers. At the end of the day, however, we’ve always concluded that Morris and Dickson is the best fit for us.
For us, the reasons are many. First, their pricing and terms are extremely competitive, always being comparable to, or as in most cases, superior to what we’ve seen from the others. This includes their newly expanded and aggressively-priced generic program, which is saving us both time in ordering and real money on the bottom line. And while we still maintain secondary relationships with other wholesalers, it’s been a real convenience to know that Morris and Dickson can competitively handle both our brand and generic needs.
Secondly, and also very important to us, is the commitment to service and support that they show their independent pharmacies. With a customer base that is overwhelmingly independent, it’s obvious that they realize that their success is dependent on our success. From your personal sales representative to their technology department to management, this is a company that understands how to take care of a customer. Their people are friendly, competent, and very knowledgeable. Their response time is fast, and they follow up to make sure your questions get answered. We especially appreciate that their technology division (NewTech Systems) has been very progressive in implementing systems that help our business grow and remain efficient, including most recently e-prescribing, getting set up to handle FSA and HSA cards, and too many other offerings to list. They even have a division that can assist in the planning, design, and setting up of your pharmacy, fixtures, etc… truly a turn-key operation!
On a personal note, and following Hurricane Katrina, one of the first calls we received while heading back to survey the damage to our community and business was from our sales representative Mike Lacombe, who was calling to see how we were doing and to offer his help in coordinating deliveries and support so that we could be ready for the return of our customers. He did this while dealing with the challenges of having his own family displaced, and was able to coordinate desperately needed deliveries during a time when most of the chains were shuttered and unable to open. They also offered special dating to assist with the cash flow issues that resulted from the staggered delay of our customer’s return. Having someone like Mike and a company like Morris & Dickson in our corner made all the difference in our being able to get up and running and ready to play a role in our community’s return. This dedication has given us peace of mind during every hurricane season since.
Bottom line for us is that we’re dealing with people and a company that we trust, respect and feel supported by. We are getting all of the advantages you’d expect from the larger mega- wholesalers with the personal attention from one considerably smaller. We have choices, and for us, that choice is Morris & Dickson.
